Over recent years I have recently been using the Citroen DS3 1.6 diesel for 4 years, followed by the Citroen C3 1.5 diesel for 2 years. It appears the majority of new drivers do not buy similar vehicles once they have passed the practical test. Most opting for a smaller engine and usually a petrol vehicle, this seems to be because of the initial insurance costs and lack of no claims bonus. This has resulted in many learners calling me up in a panic with stalling problems, a petrol drive can be very different from a diesel. As a result I am happy to say my new instruction vehicle for lessons is now a Suzuki Swift 1.2 Petrol.
This will in the long term prepare my learners for driving on their own with a vehicle similar to what many first time car buyers purchase.
